Local Ukrainians follow coverage of presidential elections in Ukraine

Montreal, December 22, 2004
 

Local Ukrainians will gather this Sunday, December 26, 2004, at the Ukrainian Youth Centre (CYM), located at 3260 Beaubien Street East (corner St-Michel Blvd.), to follow the presidential elections in Ukraine. A live feed of Channel 5-TV from Kyiv will be broadcast via satellite in the CYM Kafé and the small hall.

Preliminary results are expected around 3:00 p.m. local time, and final results can be expected any time after 5:00 p.m. (These are approximate times.)

Political analysts, community leaders, and members of the Ukrainian community-at-large will be available for comment. A list of contacts in Ukraine will be available on-site and a phone line will be made available to journalists who wish to place telephone calls to Ukraine.

The program will also include screenings of documentary films from Independence Square in Kyiv, the Yuschenko-Yanukovych debate, satirical animated features and Ukrainian music.

Members of Vidlunnia Choir will prepare coffee, tea, and sandwiches and sweets.
